Photo: MOBBED — Michael Newsom of WJ Wheeler Insurance Agency and volunteers from Responsible Pet Care all joined efforts on December 1, making the fourth Western Maine Cash Mob a huge success. The event raised about $5,000.
PARIS — Seventy two people attended the fourth Western Maine Cash Mob Saturday arriving at Paris Elementary School as snow was falling, where the location was revealed – across the street at the site where RPC hopes to relocate its animal shelter.
Participants did some shopping at the future home of Responsible Pet Care. Sales from the craft fair there raised $2,000 for RPC. Matching gifts from an anonymous donor for $1,000 and from W.J.Wheeler Insurance for $2,500 brought the final total to $5,500.
Responsible Pet Care has now raised more than $100,000 towards its $350,000 goal to purchase the building.
Michael Newsome of W.J. Wheeler Insurance in Paris, the sponsor of the area cash mobs said, "I hope that other local businesses and community members will pledge to support RPC and help it reach its goal."
You can learn more about the shelter and its campaign at www.petfinder.com/shelters/rpc.html.
"We run Western Maine Cash Mob to support local businesses, get community members together, and have some fun," he continued. "I'm so proud of our communities, as our Cash Mobs are among the best attended anywhere in the country.
