Cash Mob to hit South Paris

PARIS — The 4th Western Maine Cash Mob will be held in South Paris on Saturday December 1, at 9:30 a.m.

The meeting location will be the Paris Elementary School parking lot. Come rain or shine, we will be undercover. The business to be mobbed will remain a secret until announced to the mob at 9:30 a.m. that day.

A Cash Mob is a community-oriented event designed to support a local business while giving people the opportunity to see old friends and make new ones. Everyone agrees to bring $20 with them to spend at this local business.

“The formula is pretty simple,” said Michael Newsom, president of W.J. Wheeler Insurance. “People commit to spend $20 each at a local business to help it financially; it brings in new customers and gets old customers re-acquainted.”

He continued, “In a time where many small local businesses are struggling, events like a Cash Mob help people realize they don’t have to go to big box stores or the Internet for things that want, they probably can get what they need or want right in their own community.”

Norway Savings Bank will sponsor an “after-mob” party with free refreshments at the place that is being mobbed. There will also be some great giveaways such as area gift certificates and goodies from local businesses.
