Texas Hold'Em
HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club is sponsoring a Texas Hold'Em Tournament on Saturday, November 3, at the VFW Hall on 176 Waterford Road in Harrison. The doors open at 11:30 a.m., start time is 1 p.m. and end time is 6 p.m. The $55 entry fee includes the stipend for the State License fee.
This BYOB event is limited to 100 players so come and have some fun. Food and refreshments will be available.
Proceeds will be used to provide services that the Lions Club renders to the community.
Free clothes
PARIS — Trinity Lutheran Church on 34 Buckfield Road in South Paris, wishes to announce that free clothes will be available at the church on Saturday, November 17, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Jones Band
PARIS — The Jones Band will be playing old fashioned dance music at the Legion Hall on Church Street in South Paris on November 3, 10, 17 and 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults. Come and have a great time with very friendly people.
Crafters wanted
PARIS — Crafters are wanted for a Holiday Showcase and Craft Fair to be held December 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Paris Fire Station. Tables are for rent for $25; reserve by November 10. For more information, call 890-9822. This event is sponsored by the Western Maine Harness Horseman’s Association.
BUCKFIELD — The Nezinscot Valley 2012 Holiday Fair is now accepting crafters and vendors for the fair to be held Saturday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School. The cost is $15 for an eight-foot space and $10 for student groups. Bring your own table.
The fair will also feature live music throughout the day, complimentary coffee in the morning and lunch options will be available and delivered to crafters.

Church fairs
FRYEBURG — A Christmas Cupboard will be held on Saturday, November 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fryeburg New Church, 12 Oxford Street. This event will feature fudge and candy, baked goods, knitted items, mittens, handmade crafts, wreaths, white elephants, raffle with three items and much more. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be at noon. Muffins, donut holes, coffee and hot chocolate will be on sale while you shop.
PARIS — On December 1, Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road will be having their annual Advent Fair from 8 to 11 a.m. The fair will feature Rada knives, food, Christmas decorations, white elephant table and raffle tickets for sale. Coffee and snacks will be served.
Suppers
MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will be hosting its Almost Famous Roast Beef Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. And since it is November, a side main dish of roast turkey will also be available. The cost of the supper is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
The society recently located copies of the History of Mechanic Falls, published in 1993 during the town’s centennial celebration. These will be available for the purchase price of $20 each. All proceeds will go toward of the maintenance of the society’s building.
PARIS — A public supper, sponsored by the Paris Fire Department Auxiliary, will be served Saturday, November 10 at 5 p.m. The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veggies, macaroni and cheese, salads, rolls and homemade desserts. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for ages four to 12 and free for ages three and under. All proceeds will benefit the Paris Fire Department Auxiliary and Fire Personnel.
PARIS — On Saturday, November 3 the First Baptist Church of Paris will begin a series of Soup, Stew and Chowder suppers. Featured will be homemade soups, stews, chowders, breads, salads, beverages and desserts. The suppers will be held on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting.
Cost of the meal is $7 per adult and $3.50 for children 12 and under, with 10 percent of the profit going to the Food Pantry. Come and enjoy a delicious meal with friends and neighbors while helping the needy in the community. Choose smaller portions of different soups or a larger one of your favorite!
