MedAccess saves $1.6M

NORWAY — MedAccess is a nonprofit program offered by MaineHealth that assists people who need help paying for their unaffordable prescription medications. MedAccess works with individuals who have lower incomes and no prescription coverage, but offers help to anyone with prescriptions.

Since the MedAccess program came to Stephens Memorial Hospital in 2009, patients in the Oxford Hills community have saved approximately $1,620,933 in just three years.

MedAccess Resources and Referral Specialist Rebekah Brown helps individuals complete the necessary paperwork and gather the appropriate documentation that needs to be submitted by the patient.

This is a free program for patients; there is no cost to participate. MedAccess staff works with patients to lower their medication costs. There are many programs individuals may qualify for - plus discount generic programs that are available to everyone at most pharmacies.
