Self Care, Empowerment Day set for Women

BRIDGTON — A Self-Care and Empowerment Day for Women will take place on Saturday, October 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Stevens Brook Elementary School, 14 Frances Bell Drive in Bridgton.

There will be 36 exhibitors, including artists and crafters offering demos and items for sale; life coaching sessions; advocacy and support services for those victimized by sexual or domestic assault; demos of body and energy work - reiki, polarity and meditation; chair massages; use of biomat - uses infrared rays, negative ions and amethyst quartz crystals to relieve pain and restore balance and energy; local author - book and designs custom jewelry related to adoption and foster care; Maine Women magazine; outdoor and indoor fitness opportunities - gardening, tai chi and yoga; sled dogs; holistic health care - hair and skin care, nutrition and herbal remedies; midwifery; physical and mental health; dentistry services and the list goes on.

Historically, women have been socialized to be the caretakers of others, often at the expense of taking care of themselves. A goal of the Self-Care and Empowerment Day for Women is to inform women about the multitude of local resources available to promote personal safety, emotional and physical health, creativity and the enjoyment of life.

This event is free and open to the public.
