September 30 is FSA sign-up deadline

AREA — USDA Farm Service Agency County Executive Marcia Hall reminds producers that the deadline to sign up for the Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) program is September 30.

The MILC Program financially compensates dairy producers when domestic milk prices fall below a specified level. MILC payments are made monthly when the milk price falls below the established price per hundredweight.

Verifiable production evidence that confirms the dairy operation’s eligible production and commercial milk marketings must be provided to County Offices before any payment will be issued to the dairy operation.

To obtain MILC benefits for all previous months for which a MILC payment rate was in effect, producers must provide the dairy operation’s final production evidence and any supporting documentation, if not already submitted, for eligible months by COB November 1.

Any dairy operation that cannot provide the required documentation to the satisfaction of COC will be ineligible for MILC program benefits. For more clarification on the MILC Program, please contact your local Farm Service Agency office.
