Save Your Breath walk is planned

AUGUSTA — The Lung Cancer Free Alliance's mission is to decrease the suffering caused by a diagnosis of lung cancer by raising much needed money for lung cancer research, education, and community support.

Lung Cancer is the number one cause of cancer death. Every 2.5 minutes someone is diagnosed with lung cancer and every three minutes someone loses their battle to the disease. This is equal to a jumbo jet liner crashing every single day.

On November 3, the first Save Your Breath Walk will be held at Buker School, 21 Armory Street in Augusta. This event will include a walk, ceremony, silent auction, refreshments and awards for the person who raises the most money.

Doors open at 8:45 a.m.; there will be a ceremony at 10:15 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments, silent auction results and awards at 11:30 a.m.

On-line registration closes on October 20. On-line registration is $18, mail-in registration is $20 and event day registration is $22. Register at www.lungcancefreealliance.org.

Please join in as the Alliance kicks off their first walk to raise money for research, education and community support! This Save Your Breath fundraiser will connect families, friends, neighbors and coworkers, creating a community of support and empowerment. It will help lung cancer patients, families and caregivers connect with others facing this disease, providing them with hope and inspiration.
