Gather Your Facts

The wind shook last night, I recall,
Shook eaves, windows and wall —
I thought that my house must break;
Long I lay there awake
And waited for the climax.
I gathered all my facts.
They created a slim pile.
Still, I found room to smile —
What can one do about the end?
Gather your facts, and wait, my friend.
