Weekend to GROW in Bryant Pond

BRYANT POND — Many local communities in Maine are faced with serous problems - a struggling economy, environmental threats, inequality, lack of health care, and others. But local grassroots groups are meeting the challenge and working toward solutions to those problems.

The ninth annual GROW (GrassRoots Organizing Workshops) weekend, September 14-16, at Bryant Pond 4-H Camp in Bryant Pond, offers members of grassroots groups an opportunity to learn skills needed to solve these problems.

Workshop topics include grassroots fundraising, storytelling and listening to the grassroots, creating multi-cultural groups, using the media to support grassroots projects, Organizing 101, and effective meetings and decision-making.

Cost for the three days in a beautiful setting in western Maine is $10-80 (based on ability to pay), including fresh, locally grown food and rustic but comfortable lodging. Childcare is also available for those who pre-register.
