Rimes fair appearance still expected

OXFORD — LeAnn Rimes checked herself into a 30-day treatment center just two weeks before she is due to headline the entertainment at the Oxford Fair.

Jackie Young, president of the Oxford County Agricultural Society, said last week that she has not heard from Rimes' representative about whether the singer's treatment will interfere with her commitment to the Oxford Fair on Sept. 15. She said she's going with published reports she has read that say she will honor her weekend engagements.

The Grammy award-winning singer has checked into a 30-day treatment center to "cope with anxiety and stress," according to online reports.

Young said she is not overly concerned with the reports because an online People Magazine bulletin has reported that the singer intends to keep all her weekend commitments.

"The country star – who has been gearing up for the upcoming release of her latest studio album, Spitfire and a fall tour – will continue to perform in September during breaks from treatment," the bulletin said.

The article quoted Rimes' rep as saying, "The facility has granted her permission to keep her weekend tour obligations, as LeAnn doesn't want to disappoint her fans. She will report back after each weekend."

The Oxford Fair recently announced a $5 ticket for the show that includes admittance to the fair that day.
