AUGUSTA — The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety recently announced the release of the second edition Maine Motorcycle Rides map of Maine.

The revised Maine Motorcycle Rides map features eight suggested motorcycle rides throughout Maine and a list of events happening in each ride area. One featured ride showcases a trip beginning in Sanford and winding through Fryeburg, Bethel and South Paris before ending in Portland.

Event listings for this ride include the Fryeburg Fair and the Lewiston/Auburn Balloon Festival. Other featured routes include trips from Houlton to Van Buren and back through Caribou; Rumford to Farmington through Rangeley and Brunswick to Rockland.

All routes have suggested stops along the way that include historic landmarks, landforms, state parks and visitor information centers.

The maps are available at a variety of locations including Bureau of Motor Vehicle branch offices, motorcycle rider education schools, motorcycle dealerships, and Maine Visitor Information Centers. The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety encourages all motorcyclists to ride safely. “Motorcycle riding through Maine is a fantastic way to experience all the natural beauty that makes our state so great,” said Lauren Stewart, the Director of the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety.

“Please remember to watch out for other riders and drivers and for moose and other wildlife on the roadways. Always wear proper protective gear, and do not drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Observing the rules of the road will allow you to thoroughly enjoy your ride through this great state.”

The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety urges riders to make every ride a safe ride. Survive your ride!
