Volunteer training is scheduled
LEWISTON — In response to increasing needs, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is seeking individuals who are interested in volunteering to help home care patients and their families. Volunteer opportunities include Visiting, Grocery Shopping, Transportation, Office and Hospice House Greeters.
The training classes will focus on volunteer opportunities that support patients receiving home care services as they recover from illness, surgery or a new medical condition, according to Kathy Baillargeon, Volunteer Supervisor.
Grocery Volunteers shop and deliver food and medications on a regular basis to patients; Visiting Volunteers provide companionship and share in activities such as reading, card games or music and Transportation Volunteers drive patients to appointments.
The training class will be held on Thursday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston.
All Volunteers are valued members of the health care team, and are matched with patients in or near their communities. Pre-registration is required for the classes. For more information, contact Volunteer Services at 777-7740 or 1-800-482-7412 ext. 1280.
