Public interest forum slated

NORWAY — A Public Interest Forum will be held on Thursday, February 21, at 7 p.m. at Fare Share Commons on 443 Main Street in Norway.

The topic will be "Food, for the People and By the People." The forum will be lead by Ken Morse and Scott Vlaun.

At issue are questions about enough food, food without toxins and other extraneous stuff and food grown or produced while preserving the heritage we share with all people — soil and environmental health.

Morse and Vlaun know the ropes, like where the organic food movement is now, what similarly concerned people are doing here in Maine and Oxford County, and, not least, how to grow food. Vlaun brings an international perspective to these questions.

Discussion certainly will deal with the selling, buying and distribution of food products. Maybe it will touch upon the matter of topsoil, presently running down rivers into oceans, and ask whether the hunger of almost one billion of the world's people is our concern or not.

There will be refreshments.

The Public Interest Forum meets monthly to explore political, social and cultural issues bearing on our democracy.
