AARP
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, February 11 at the First Congregational Church on E. Main Street, South Paris. Lunch will be served at 12 noon and will include oven baked chicken with all the fixings. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, February 8.
The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Dues should be paid at this meeting. Remember to bring donations for the Food Pantry. For those going on the March bus trip, that money will also be due. The program this month is Gidgets, Gadjets and Thingamabobs, presented by Jeff Auger.
Snowhoppers
PARIS — South Paris Snow Hoppers snowmobile club meets the third Tuesday of the month at the South Paris Town Office. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome to attend. Come and join in on the fun and enjoy the activities.
Stone-Smart
NORWAY — Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary held the January meeting with President Thelma Denlinger presiding. Donations were voted on for Androscoggin Home Health, Long Creek Youth Center and Togus for Care and Share. It was voted to do the National President's Scholarship again this year. This is for fifth and sixth graders at the Guy E. Rowe School.
Marie Pingree reported on her visits to members who cannot get out to meetings. Marie enjoyed talking with them and they all were happy with their gifts and especially happy with the visit.
President Denlinger reported on the December birthday party at the Maine Veterans' Home. Everyone who had a birthday was given a present that they had asked for, and others attending got to pick out a small present of their choice.
The Unit will be helping raise money to help Beals House at Togus. They are feeling the pinch and need help.
The meeting was preceded with soup, chili and chowder with sandwiches; Henley and Moulton served and also prepared the supper.
Historical
WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Historical Society will hold its next meeting on Saturday, February 9, at the Town Complex. The Town of Woodstock is gearing up to celebrate its Bicentennial in 2015. As part of the preparation for this important event, Larry Bonney will present a program on the early years of the town, before it was incorporated as the Town of Woodstock in 1815.
The Society encourages everyone to join them and learn how it all began. The business meeting begins at 6 p.m. with the program and light refreshments to follow.
