Legion Auxiliary meetings held
NORWAY — Meetings of Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary Unit 82 of Norway were held in October and November with President Thelma Denlinger presiding.
The President's Project for this year is the Oxford Hills Food Pantry. She has a box in the hall and anyone wishing to help can drop off food items at the hall on Main Street on Bingo night.
Lucille Allen spoke on the Auxiliary Emergency Fund and its purpose, which is to help a Auxiliary member who is in need. Lucille is Department Chairman for this project.
Girl Staters Alyssa Andrews and Megan Feely gave excellent reports on their experience at the Girl's State program in Bangor. Assistant Director Caroleen Caldwell from the Department also attended.
Diane Polvinen was appointed to the Executive Committee replacing Tami Hill.
Donations made recently were to the Christmas gift shops at Western Maine Veterans' Home and Togus, funds to help the Post pay for oil, Department raffle tickets purchased to support their fundraiser, to military kids for Christmas and to the Western Maine Veterans' Home Christmas tree of lights in honor of Post veterans. The Auxiliary will remember Post veterans who are ill or disabled at home or in nursing homes and also ladies of the Unit who are unable to get out. Marie Pingree will visit them with a gift.
The ladies will help on the cost of a new furnace that the Post is installing.
New members Sylvia Grover and Theresa Parlin were welcomed to the Unit.
