Fletcher’s Candy Store 'opens' Saturday

NORWAY — The Norway Historical Society is recreating the spirit of Fletcher’s Candy Store Saturday November 24 – the day of the annual Christmas parade. Fletcher’s Candy Store, known as the “Sweetest Spot in Norway,” began November 7, 1903 by John H. Fletcher.

Fletcher’s was located on Main Street in Norway and was famous for its handmade candy – especially candy canes and ribbon candy at Christmas time - as well as a variety of penny candy.

Handmade peanut brittle, fudge, needhams, peanut butter cups, truffles, caramel popcorn as well as penny candy for children of all ages will be available to purchase beginning at 9 a.m.

Saturday, November 24. All funds generated from the sale of the homemade candy will go to support the operations of the society.

The society will also feature a display/history of Fletcher’s on the 24th. For more information, please contact the society at norwaymehistory@gmail.com or by phone at 743-7377.
