Swingin' Bears offer beginner lessons
SOUTH PARIS — This is the time of year when those who have ever considered learning to square dance or those who have square danced in the past and would like to get back into it have the opportunity to try it out free of charge.
The Swingin' Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris is offering three free square dance lessons for beginners at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street in South Paris, beginning Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Only two weeks will be open to beginners, who will then advance beyond the beginner level. New graduates and more experienced dancers will be there to "angel" the beginners.
All who are not beginners will be charged $4 for each workshop. Beginner classes are from 6:30–7:45 p.m. From 7:45–9 p.m. the caller, Ray Hilton of Saco, will do workshops for graduates. Refreshments will be served. Non-dancers are always welcome to come and watch at no charge.
Square dancing is for all ages. It is a great way to relax and have fun as well as meeting people and making new friends. The club wants to introduce this activity to everyone in the area who might be looking for recreation during the long cold winter months.
They know that everyone will have an enjoyable and fun-filled evening. More information about the dances, classes and workshops may be found on the website, www.squaredanceme.us/swinginbears, or call Eleanor Herrick, Vice President, at 782-4050.
