Otisfield Historical Society to meet

OTISFIELD — Henry Hamilton, President of the Otisfield Historical Society, will be at the podium for the Society’s next meeting on Thursday, September 6, at the Otisfield Town Hall. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Though born in Otisfield, Henry spent three years in Alabama while in graduate school. During that time, he realized that Otisfield was about as strange a place to Alabamians as Timbuktu.

In a successful effort to inform his new neighbors about life in a small Maine town, Henry broadcast a series of stories about his home town on Alabama Public Radio.

After a career spent abroad in places like Afghanistan and Africa, Henry returned to Otisfield several years ago. “Those old stories,” he says, “may seem like fiction to people living in Otisfield today, but they’re 90% true.”

As always, the public is invited. Refreshments will follow the program.
