Gem talk set

ALBANY TWP — Larry Stifler will give a talk and slide show with his wife, Mary McFadden, on Western Maine’s mining heritage and their vision for the Maine Gem and Mineral Museum, scheduled to open in Bethel next year.

The couple are the founders of the museum and owners of the Bumpus Mine in Albany. The event, hosted by the Albany Improvement Association, will take place at the Albany Town House, corner of Vernon St. and Hunt’s Corner Rd., on Sunday, August 19 at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
