Memorabilia barn to be built
POLAND — On Monday, July 23, groundbreaking for Poland Historical Society's memorabilia barn took place.
The 32x48-foot barn addition to the Society's headquarters will be located to the rear of Poland's old 1848 District 22 schoolhouse located along Route 26 behind the Town Office on town-owned land.
The new addition will provide the Society with more display space and program area.
Helping with the groundbreaking by taking up the brick walkway to the existing building were Jeremy Trask, Kaleb Nottingham, Austin Russell, Isabelle Fernald, Elisabeth Champagne, Trent Fernald and T. J. England of Poland's Recreation Department's summer program. Operating the front loader and Cat 225 excavator was Stan Tyler. Joe Cimino of Poland owns the machinery and donated its use.
