Weary Club history

EXPLAINING — President Wayne Chandler does what has never been done before: explainsd the history and organization of Norway's Weary Club to the public on June 12, at the Norway Historical Society. The Weary Club was formed in the early 1920s by Fred Sanborn, whose photograph Chandler is holding. Its sole purpose was to get local businessmen together to relax and gossip. It remains the same today. To anyone's knowledge, the Weary Club is the only organization of its kind in the country. It is so unique that it has been featured in many national magazines and newspapers throughout its history. Today it boasts 193 members, with 40 being women.
