September services at West Paris Universalist

WEST PARIS — September, sweet September with the scent of apples and lush foliage all around. September is also when worship services begin at The First Universalist Church of West Paris and continue every Sunday until June. Services are presented with a combination of Worship Service Committee members and guest speakers.

All are welcome to attend; 9 a.m. services are followed by refreshments.

September 16 - “The Wisdom of Listening with the Heart,” led by returning guest speaker The Reverend Sarah Shepley, who is an ordained interfaith minister in Maine’s western hills. She is also a graduate of the Portland School of Art and has been a professional artist in mixed media for over 20 years.

September 23 - “Coming Home,” led by the returning Cindy Reedy who is a third generation Unitarian Universalist and teacher.

September 30 - “Acting Like Adults," the challenges and opportunities that face us require us to be mature if we are to make responsible choices in life, led by The Reverend Dr. Robert C. Sallies.

Dr. Sallies was a publisher of the Norway Advertiser Democrat from 1959 to 1976. He has served Universalist Churches in Nottingham, NH, South Paris and Westbrook.

Dr. Sallies served as Northeast District Executive of the UUA in Portland, Maine for seven years and as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Boston, MA for eight years. Since retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Sallies have spent winters in Anderson, SC and summers in Norway.
