Church is burglarized
NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship has been teaching lately that in the last days the iniquity of men would get worse and worse. They feel that we certainly are in the last days.
In light of the circumstances that developed over the past few days, the church was firsthand witness that the iniquity of man will abound.
The church, located on 10 Country Club Road in Norway, was burglarized early Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m. The thieves forced their way into the building through the rear handicapped entrance. The perpetrators then broke into a secured projection cabinet upstairs and took the projection computer laptop.
One of the downstairs offices was also broken into and a computer taken from there as well. Other undisclosed items were taken and the building suffered some property damage during the robbery.
An OHCF church member went to the church at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to do some church work, only to find that the building had been burglarized. The member knew something was wrong as soon as the front door was entered because of the smell of cigarettes in the air. Some drawers in the projection area were open, and a quick look around told that something was horribly wrong.
The back doors to the church were propped open and some of the music equipment was missing. The individual then went downstairs to check out what else was missing and found the office area had been burglarized.
The Norway Police were notified and they responded quickly to the call. Pictures were taken, computer serial numbers provided and a witness statement was given.
The police then went around the neighborhood, inquiring from the neighbors if they had seen anything unusual during the night. One neighbor provided an eyewitness account of some unusual happenings they had seen the night before.
The police informed the church pastor, Reverend Noah Jaynes, that fingerprinting would be a long drawn out affair and everyone who ever went to the church would have to be printed. The police said that they would provide the serial numbers to their usual sources, and if the computers ever made it through the local shops, they would likely be recovered.
Anyone with knowledge of the robbery is encouraged to contact the Norway Police Department.
