Second Congo sets summer schedule
NORWAY — Beginning July 1 and continuing through Labor Day, summer worship time at Second Congregational Church will be 9 a.m. The nursery will be open during the service for your convenience. Sunday School will resume in the fall. During the summer, various guest musicians or soloists will appear at the church. On July 1, Claire Lupien, granddaughter of organist Elaine Emery, will play the flute and sing for the congregation.
The month of July will also bring a variety of guest speakers including Earl Rogers, senior at Andover Newton Seminary on July 8; Rev. Jean Kiskaddon, PCUSA Minister from Manhattan, NY and mother of Kate Wood, and Drew McLaren, who serves on the Wider Church Ministries Board of Directors will speak on July 29.
The 17th Annual Lobster Roll Luncheon will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Norway Arts Festival. The meal features clear Maine lobster meat, watermelon,potato chips, beverage and dessert and can be delivered to the various vendor booths along Main Street.
A free community supper will be held on Friday, July 20 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the church. There will not be a free supper during the month of August as the church prepares for its 12th annual Tents and Treasures Yard Sale on August 25. Coffee and donuts will be available at 6:30 a.m. and the gates will open at 7:30 a.m. The prices are kept very low so to help neighbors during these tough financial times.
