Church Notes - Holy Week Services
HARRISON — The following is a listing of the special services being held by the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church for Easter:
"As a diverse people gathered together by a common love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, we support each other and strive to serve the larger community. Our church invites all without prejudice."
Maundy Thursday, March 28 at the Bolsters Mills Church at 7 p.m. This is a joint service with the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church.
On Good Friday from noon until 3 p.m., the Bolsters Mills Church will be open for anyone who would like to take some time for prayer, reflection, and meditation.
Easter Sunday Sunrise Service will be held at the home of the Jacksons on Poplar Ridge Road in Otisfield. There is no road address, but take the first driveway on the right after the farm of the Sisters of the Resurrection. Gathering will be at 6:15 a.m.
Easter breakfast at the church in Bolsters Mills following the Sunrise service. Everyone is welcome. Breakfast should begin around 7 a.m.
Easter Service celebration will be at the Bolsters Mills Church at 9 a.m. For more information, call Pastor Joan Spitzform at 998-2819 (cell: 312-1397).
NORWAY — You are invited to an Easter service that emphasizes the great reality and importance of Christ, Truth, in our daily lives. The service is at 10 a.m. at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 5 Morrill Road in Norway.
Jesus' eternal place as mediator between God and people is explored with Bible texts such as “…Christ is real.” The service will bring out how Christ Jesus, the Way, shows us the way to live Christianity in daily life.
One passage says: "When the human element in him struggled with the divine, our great Teacher said: 'Not my will, but Thine, be done!' – that is, Let not the flesh, but the Spirit, be represented in me.This is the new understanding of spiritual Love. It gives all for Christ, or Truth."
That is from the Christian Science textbook “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of the Christian Science church.
Sunday School is available for children and teenagers, and child care is provided for those too young for Sunday School. Members encourage you to bring an item for the Norway Food Pantry and your best singing voice, no matter what that is. A collection is taken, no Easter bonnet required! LOCKE MILLS — The Locke Mills Union Church will have a sunrise service on Easter, March31 followed by an Easter breakfast. Regular service will be at 9 a.m. with special music. Everyone is welcome.
NORWAY — Norway Baptist Church at 12 Cottage Street announces its Easter Sunday services as follows:
Sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. followed by a breakfast and a time of fellowship. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m., followed by morning service at 10:45 a.m. Evening Service is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School children will be participating in the morning worship service. A nursery will be provided. All are welcome to attend.
WATERFORD — The Reverend Doretta Colburn invites all members and friends of the Oxford County United Parish churches in North Waterford and Stoneham to join in Easter services, beginning on Sunday, March 31 with an Easter Sunrise Service, to be jointly celebrated with Waterford Congregational Church, at 6:30 a.m. at Keoka Lake town beach in Waterford, followed by Easter Breakfast at the Wilkins House.
The Easter Sunday worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the North Waterford Congregational Church, located on Five Kezars Road (off Routes 35 and 37, opposite Melby’s Market).
HARRISON — The United Parish Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton, located at 77 Main Street in Harrison, will hold its Easter worship service at 10 a.m. on March 31. This will be their first worship service at the church since the fire on September 1.
PARIS — Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Rd. in South Paris, is announcing its Holy Week Schedule. Please join in on March 24 at 10:15 a.m. for Palm Sunday worship. The procession with palms will be followed by the Passion Reading and Holy Communion.
On March 28, Maundy Thursday, there will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m., followed by Holy Communion. The evening will end with preparing the sanctuary for Good Friday.
On March 29, the annual Good Friday Walk of the Cross will be held, beginning at the Universalist Church, Main Street in Norway and ending here at Trinity Lutheran. The Good Friday Tennebrae service will begin at 7 p.m.
Easter Sunday, March 31, will begin with breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. (reservations are requested). The Resurrection Celebration will begin at 10:15 a.m. All are welcome.
