BABYSITTING 101 Offered by the Girl Scouts of Maine. 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for all girls in Grades 5 and up in the Norway/Paris area at St. Catherine's Church, Norway. Cost of the program is $6. I HAVE A DREAM Week Children and Teen departments of Norway Memorial Library are joining together to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream Week” will have a daily dream challenge and will also include art projects and other activities. McFALLS Historical Society 6:30 p.m. downstairs in the Congregational Hall of the Society, 64 Elm St., Mechanic Falls. Lucille Hodsdon and Noella Hemond, members of the Minot Historical Society, will discuss the books they have created and published. These books detail the recorded history of Minot as well as the early families of Auburn, Mechanic Falls and Poland. Business session will follow. Refreshments will be served.

MOTHER/SON DANCE Proceeds will help send the Scouts of Pack 130 to summer camp this year. 6-9 p.m. at the So. Paris Legion Hall, Church St. No age limit. TEXAS HOLD'EM Sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion with proceeds will go to fund current and future programs of the American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the games will start at 6 p.m. and go until it's over. Buy in will be $35. Food will be available at the kitchen. In addition, there will be a door prize to be drawn just before the games begin. This will also be a BYOB event for those who might prefer that option. FMI call 539-2649.

BRIGID WHITNEY-GALLAGHER 11 a.m. guest speaker at the 1st Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway, 479 Main St. Brigid is a local writer and poet. In addition to writing, she works with children who have disabilities. Brigid will be speaking on “The Things We Hold.” Using original writing, Brigid will explore memory, emotion and the unconscious believes that shape our lives. Childcare is provided and social hour follows the service.
