HEALTHCARE MOVIE Presented by Maine AllCare and the Public Interest Forum. 6:30 p.m. at the Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St., Norway. Admission is free. The movie, 65-minute documentary, tells the real story about the health care systems in Canada and the United States, and how they evolved to be so different. the film is narrated by Kiefer Sutherland, who is the grandson of the "father of Canadian health care," Tommy Douglas. Following the movie at 7:30 p.m. there will be a discussion and a question and answer time led by Maine AllCare President, Dr. Julie Pease of Brunswick. CLOCK TALK Sponsored by the Paris Cape Historical Society. 7 p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church, Paris Hill. Don Adamson will reprise his "Clock Talk" about the 1883 clock and the 1821 Revere Bell in the church. Admission is free, but the church is asking for donations to the Friends of the Church Fund which helps with maintenance of this important historic structure. Topic will be questions and answers on how to put your bees away for the winter and what to do in preparation for a deep freeze. TEXAS HOLD'EM Sponsored by the Harrison Lions Club with proceeds to be used to provide services that the Lion's Club renders to the community. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., the start time is 1 p.m. and the end time is 6 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Rd., Harrison. $75 entry fee includes the stipend for the state license fee. Food and refreshments will be available at this BYOB event. Limited to 100 players.

FINNISH-AMERICAN Heritage Society of ME 2 p.m. meeting at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St., W. Paris. A brief business meeting will be followed by a program and a coffee social. The library, gift shop and museum will be open. Public is invited to attend.

HELPING HANDS Work Days 9 a.m.-noon at McLaughlin Garden, 97 Main St., So. Paris. Participants have a chance to meet new people, learn new gardening skills, and gain the satisfaction of knowing that the time spent helping is greatly appreciated. Kristin Perry guides volunteers in learning to identify and reduce weeds, how and when to deadhead and prune, and what and how to compost. She also teaches both common and Latin plant names. Workers leave with tips to use in their own yards.

OIL AWARENESS Movies Hosted by John O'Brien. 7 p.m. at the Waterford Town Office, 366 Valley Rd., Waterford. Showings are to raise awareness to the threat of tar sands oil flowing through the Portland Pipeline which runs through Western ME and by Sebago Lake. Waterford residents will gather to watch 2 films, one in opposition to tar sands and one in support of tar sands. A community conversation and questions and answer session will follow.

"OCTOBER BABY" Movie 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Gospel Church, 24 Sebago Rd., Naples. Free and a free will offering will be taken to help offset license cost and to get a new sound system for the church. A movie that every teen should see. It is certainly age appropriate for all, but teens will get something special out of it. There will be snacks and beverages. POTLUCK and Decorated Pumpkin Contest Proceeds to go to the Heifer International Fund. 6 p.m. at the Wilkins House next to the church on Plummer Hill behind the Common, Waterford Flat. Public is invited and bring a dish to share. Following the supper, the children will be invited to parade around and show off their Halloween costumes. Adults and children are invited to paint, carve or decorate a pumpkin and bring it for the contest. Everyone will be invited to put money in a dish in front of their favorite pumpkins.
