Art of Listening speaker slated

AUBURN — The Androscoggin Chapter of the Maine Women’s Network (MWN) invites members, guests, and the general public to its next meeting, to be held Wednesday, December 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. Each meeting provides networking opportunities for attendees to market themselves and their businesses, as well as to make personal contacts.

The December program will feature Klara Tammany of the Center for Wisdom’s Women. With story, reflections, and conversation, Klara will focus on what she, the Companions (the core volunteers whose task it is to help nurture a non-anxious, non-judgmental listening presence), and the women who visit the Center have learned about the power of listening.

She will also share resources they have found helpful for becoming a better listener and will include a short PowerPoint meditation on the mission of The Center for Wisdom’s Women.

Klara has an MEd in Religious Education and a Post Master's Certificate in Spirituality from Boston College. She worked for 20 years as a religious educator in the Episcopal Church, first at St. Paul's in Brunswick and later as the religious education consultant for the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. Her book, "Living Water: Baptism as a Way of Life" (Church Publishing, 2002), is a reflection on ways to live your faith in everyday life. In 2011, Klara was a participant in the Leadership Development Institute of the Maine Association of Non-Profits.

The lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. The cost, only $16 for members and $20 for non-members, includes everything. Nonmembers are always welcome. Members are encouraged to register their guests in advance for the member rate.

Online pre-registration is required by December 11. Register online at www.mainewomensnetwork.com by clicking on the “Event Registration” link.

MWN’s mission is to increase women’s professional growth and leadership skills through networking and education. A statewide organization with multiple chapters, including Portland, Androscoggin and Midcoast, membership is open to all, regardless of gender.

Through monthly chapter meetings, the state-wide annual event, and other programming, MWN represents and supports hundreds of women in business across the state. Visit www.mainewomensnetwork.com for more information.
