The Chamber Beat
We are always pleased when we can talk about collaboration between our resource partners here in the Oxford Hills. I’m thrilled to announce that Jim Trundy and his staff at WMCA Career Center Services, will be bringing their local office to the Chamber of Commerce at 4 Western Avenue starting in September.
I can tell you that we feel honored to have this organization join us here at the Chamber and look forward to working on their behalf and working with them to help create an even better work and business environment for the people of the greater Oxford Hills and beyond!
Our Business After Hours hosted by TD Bank and the Western Maine Art Group on Tuesday, August 7, at the offices and service center of TD Bank in Oxford was tremendously successful with nearly 80 business people and supporters of Western Maine Art Group attending. Many thanks to TD Bank for being the official host site.
Western Maine Art is in the process of raising funds to renovate its center on Main Street in Norway. If you have an interest in donating to this cause please contact them at 739-6161.
Coming up on Thursday, September 6, Robert’s Farm Preserve on Roberts Road in Norway will be hosting our next Business After Hours and Lee Dassler has indicated that she’s planning some fun activities for the event to go along with refreshments, door prizes and networking.
It sounds like a perfect opportunity to enjoy some early Fall outdoor fun, so we hope you can make it. As usual, the BAH starts at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 7. More details to come.
Helping businesses through a difficult economy is a main focus of the Chamber and it’s affiliate members and after such a successful inaugural “Cash Mob” last month at Books N Things, WJ Wheeler is set to do it again.
This time it will take place on Saturday, August 25, at a place to be announced. More than $3,000 was raised and spent at the last Cash Mob, so be looking for more specifics as the day approaches.
And I just spoke with Jackie Young of the “Big O’, The Oxford County Fair” scheduled for September 12 – 15 at the Oxford County Fairgrounds. She indicated that there will be really terrific additions to this year’s fair and I’ll have more information about that next week.
I can tell you that it’s going to be a really big “wow.” By the way, brochures for this year’s fair will be arriving soon at the Chamber office at 4 Western Avenue.
