NSB supports fund campaign

PORTLAND — A $5,000 contribution from Norway Savings Bank has provided a significant boost to the Oxford County Fund’s campaign to match a $35,000 challenge grant from The Betterment Fund. The campaign, which runs through 2013, will help raise the fund’s endowment to more than $500,000.

“We are pleased to be able to support the work of the Maine Community Foundation and its Oxford County advisors to strengthen communities across our region,” said Norway Savings Bank President Pat Weigel.

Over the past 15-plus years, the Oxford County Committee has awarded $328,597 in grants to more than 80 organizations. The committee is comprised of local volunteer advisors who help the community foundation build charitable resources for the county and make grant recommendations.

The Betterment Fund provided a similar challenge grant in 2004 that enabled the Oxford Count Fund to surpass the $150,000 mark.
