Denmark Arts presents cabaret
DENMARK — Valentines Day is fast approaching, bringing with it another cabaret show from the Denmark Arts Center, performed by a select group whose talent evolves to higher planes of expression every year because of steadfast effort, joy and accomplishment.
Directed by Lillian Lee Morse at the piano, the shows are scheduled for Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. The themes are happy love, sad love, funny love, non-love; the styles embrace oldies, popular-bluesy standards, and poignant moments from the Concert and Broadway stage.
The concept began in 2003 from the Singers Workshop sessions at the Denmark Arts Center, where the core group found its own identity. The cast includes Susie Mosca, Janet Gill, Sue Farrington, Teresa Dyer, Ginnie Spaulding, David Cronin, Dave Mason, Chaz LaFreniere, Tom Ferent and Craig Holden.
Most of the cast are familiar performers in Lake Region area productions. Showtime means free popcorn, soda, snacks, BYOB, café-style seating, candlelight, scattered skits and audience sing (optional). Proceeds are for the benefit of Denmark Arts Center, 50 W. Main St. in Denmark. Admission is $12 donation. Call 452-2412 452-2057 for information and reservations. Doors open at 7p.m.
Songs include "The Song Is You," "I Got Love," "One Alone," "One Night of Love," "I Wish You Love," "If I Could Love Her," "You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun," "Timeless," "Bring Him Home," "Mi Mancherai," "Anyone Can Whistle," "Little Girls," "I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues," "Stars & Moons," "I’ll Know," "Come Rain Or Come Shine," "How Can You Believe Me……When You Know I’ve Been a Liar All My Life?" and "Almost A Love Song."
