New Norway gallery opens
NORWAY — Western Maine Art Group is opening Main Street Gallery just in time for the holidays.
The gallery is located in downtown Norway, 424 Main Street across from 100 Aker Wood and next to Books and Things.
The gallery will feature Holiday Miniatures, 10”x10” paintings and other surprises such as jewelry, cutting boards made from Thomas Moser wood and holiday decorations.
Eight artists have contributed resources to help WMAG have a home for the holidays while renovations get under way at the historic schoolhouse location. Much needed repairs of the upstairs floor and possibly the side wall will be the target of repairs. Structural supports will be added to insure that the building withstands the winter.
Artists, Barbara Traficonte, Irina Kahn, Pam Morra, Anthony Morra, Suzanne Hardy, Gail Rein, Gwen Nagel, Liz Evans and WMAG 10”x10” artists will be featured the month of November and December.
The 10x10 artworks were specifically created for the November show to give the community an opportunity to support WMAG in its efforts of renovation. Purchasing these art works offers the community a way to say thank-you to WMAG for all that it does for the community all year long. In addition shopping locally supports the local economy.
The Main Street Gallery will officially open Saturday, November 17th, 10-4 with an opening reception November 17, 5 to 7 p.m. It will remain open through December 24. The gallery will be open Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-4.
