Miracle on 34th Street at Schoolhouse Arts
STANDISH — Schoolhouse Arts Center will present "Miracle on 34th Street" from November 30 to December 16.
"Miracle on 34th Street" is a heartwarming holiday story about Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, who gets a job working as Santa for Macy's. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy's customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for.
Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy's vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl's belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.
This delightful holiday play is great entertainment for the entire family. Performances of "Miracle on 34th Street" will be held on November 30 and December 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and December 2, 9 and 16 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Schoolhouse Arts Center is located at 16 Richville Road (Route 114) in Standish, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35. Call 642-3743 for reservations or buy tickets on-line at www.schoolhousearts.org.
