Final call for applicants for concerto competition

YARMOUTH PORT, MA — Calling all passionate amateur musicians: The Soloist: New England Concerto Competition is accepting applications until October 1.

This unique competition, sponsored by the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra (CCSO) is open to vocalists or instrumentalists over 10 years old who either live in or go to school in New England. Up to eight semi-finalists will be chosen and announced on November 1, and perform live at Semi-Finals on February 9, 2013. The top three Finalists will be chosen by judges and audience voting.

The top three stand-out performers will have the amazing opportunity of performing with the CCSO at the final Classics concert of the series in May 2013 and win cash prizes: $3,500, $2,000 and $1,000. Unlike the semi-finals, the audience alone will determine the competition's outcome.

Applicants can learn more about The Soloist by watching a special contestant video by CCSO Conductor and Artistic Director Jung-Ho Pak at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqtH-Za9wTo.

Stay up-to-date about this innovative new competition through every phase at www.capesymphony.org or through Social Media: www.facebook.com/TheSoloistCompetition. At the end of the journey, the CCSO will present the next classical superstar of New England, The Soloist.
