Art exhibit at Maine Bookhouse
OXFORD — What better month to enjoy and think about water than August! Nikki Millonzi is sharing her paintings and artwork that were inspired by one of our most valued resources, water.
She is working with The Natural Resources Council of Maine in this exhibition as a way to provide viewers with information about larger issues involving protecting rivers, lakes, ponds and aquifers.
Millonzi is fascinated by water, especially the way light dances on it and shows its moods. “I’m drawn to the quiet mirror of Keoka Lake at dawn and love to watch the changes as the day warms things up and the choppy band grows wider, finally covering the whole surface.“
Her artwork captures these reflections and reflections of all kinds, including the moods of the ocean, Keoka Lake and Frost Hill Pond. It is her hope that viewers, through the artwork, will be reminded of their precious water and be moved to protect this common bounty.
This exhibit is hosted by The Maine Bookhouse, 1545 Main St. in Oxford. It is open daily 1 a.m.-6 p.m. and is conveniently located on Rotue 26.
