Puppets coming to Celebration Barn

PARIS — On Saturday, August 18 at 8 p.m. Celebration Barn presents Figures of Speech's Jester Kings of Java. In this exotic and comic treat, gorgeous hand-crafted puppets made from gilded water buffalo hide portray the heroes, villains, and lovers from the ancient Ramayana, and dance across the eight-foot wide shadow screen to the mesmerizing sound of Indonesian gamelan music.

Peaks Island Puppets will open the evening with the humorous tale of Solomon and Ashmedai (or how King Sol wasn't always very wise!).

Jester Kings of Java follows the story of King Rama, who wants to marry Princess Sinta, but has epic challenges to overcome. Wild battles, strange adventures, and outrageous humor promise to entertain audiences of all ages.

Advance sale tickets are highly recommended and may be purchased by calling the Barn's box office at 743-8452. The performance starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 18. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for students/kids. Celebration Barn Theater is located just off Route #117 at 190 Stock Farm Road in South Paris.
