Pierson wins contest

SOUTH HIRAM — Veteran singer/songwriter and performer Heather Pierson has just won the New England Songwriting Contest. This year’s event, the ninth annual at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival in South Hiram, was held on Sunday, July 29.

Out of a field of nearly one hundred entries, 21 songwriters were selected to compete for a grand prize of $1,000. Heather’s winning song, “A Hard Man To Please,” an Americana ballad about a woman and her relationships to the men in her life, is one of several new acoustic-based songs that she’ll begin recording in the studio later this year.
