Simon comedy opens March 14

NORWAY — In one sketch, a minor government clerk sneezes on the back of the head of his boss, and consequently drives himself crazy obsessing about it. In another, a local priest goes to the village doctor with an abscessed tooth and, finding the doctor out of town, ends up being treated by the doctor's inept assistant. In still another, a street dweller offers to "drown" himself for show, fully acknowledging the fact that he can't swim.

These are but a few of the stories in "The Good Doctor," written by a young Anton Chekhov as humerous newspaper articles and retold and staged by playwright Neil Simon.

"The Good Doctor," Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts (OHMPAA'S) spring offering, will be performed March 14, 15 and 16 and March 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. and March 17 and 23, at 2 p.m. at the Norway Grange theater. Tickets for all shows may now be purchased at Books N Things on Main Street in Norway, 739-6200.
