Thank you for helping at Thanksgiving
To the Editor:
I would like to thank everyone who donated one way or another to our Thanksgiving dinner in memory of Kenneth Verrill.
Ken was a generous giver and you helped us to carry out another event that he had planned on doing. Our family could not have been able to carry this out without all you wonderful people. We raised $1,158. What a great feeling to be able to give back. The food that was left over from our dinner was packaged and taken to Lewiston to St. Martin’s Homeless Shelter where it was fed to others.
To all the friends and family who donated, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for making this a wonderful “pay it forward.”
This is a list of all who either helped, donated or gave prizes and cash donations. Every bit of the food was donated.
Spencer Woodworth and Cindy and Spanky, American Legion Post 112 of Oxford, Mike’s Appliance, Betty Strand and Betty Lewis of Grace Fellowship Church, Allen and Judy Skinner, Mary Bonang, Helen Jackson, Matt, Bobbi and Matty Smith, a large thank you to the Advertiser Democrat for running this for weeks, the Sun Journal, WOXO and Sun Spots.
A very special thank you to some kids who volunteered their Thanksgiving Day to share it with us: Princess Gator Kane, Courtney Ladd, Matthew Smith, Monique Verrill, Hannah Blacquiere, Jay Maddocks (Kahkonen), Eric Maddocks, Evan Burnell and Trent and Nathan Arnold.
Also, a very special thank you to my friend Karen Rogers who kept track of everything. I couldn’t have done it without you. You have a heart of gold — again thank you.
To all of you who gave up your family meals to spend it with us, we thank you more than you will ever know. Hope to see you all next year, and when you get a chance to “pay it forward” do it. It’s a great feeling.
If I forgot anyone, this big thank you is for you.
Next year’s dinner will be held at the Masonic Lodge on Temple Street in Norway, where the money will go to a scholarship.
