Thank you, Black Bear Entertainment

To the Editor:

I want to publicly thank Black Bear Entertainment for their very generous donation of $40,000 which they divided among eight nonprofit organizations in the Oxford Hills. What a wonderful thing to do, especially this time of year when finances are tight and the need is great. Knowing the individuals behind Black Bear Entertainment, I wasn’t surprised by this expression of generosity as they a have a long history of caring, dedication and support of the needs in the area.

The Progress Center was one the recipients of their generosity. The money received will be used for the Community Kitchen project that The Progress Center has undertaken. When completed, we expect the Community Kitchen will be serving meals three days a week as well as having space available for others, such as the agricultural community, to use for food preparation and preserving of their seasonal harvests. We are currently using space off-site twice a month for preparation and serving of two Community Dinners a month. With the financial support of Black Bear Entertainment and others, we will be better able to help our neighbors in the Oxford Hills.
