Tri-Town still serving area
To the Editor:
The Town of Greenwood held a special town meeting on November 8, to consider three articles. Article One was to elect a moderator to preside at the meeting. Article Two was “to see if the Town of Greenwood will enter into an inter-local agreement with the Town of West Paris, to assume ownership, obligations and operation of the Tri-Town Rescue Service." Article Three was to approve a budget if Article Two passed.
After considerable discussion Article Two was voted down by a margin of two votes: 30 yes, 32 no. The effect of this vote was to reject the proposed inter-local agreement. It had nothing to do with changing emergency medical providers. At previous town meetings during the year 2010, the residents of both Greenwood and West Paris voted by wide margins to continue to have Tri-Town Ambulance and Rescue Service as their emergency medical service provider.
In order to resolve any ambiguity regarding the effect the vote at the Town of Greenwood meeting on November 8, the Tri-Town Board of Directors at their November 10 meeting voted unanimously to reaffirm its obligation to continue to fulfill its commitments to provide emergency medical service to its service area as it has for the past 30 plus years.
