'Select' people far from select

To the Editor:

I am appalled by the report of a reliable witness that a town manager was recently accosted at a funeral service, as he stood by his wife's open coffin.

The two inhuman perpetrators of this act were "selectpeople" of the town who insisted on discussing town matters with him right then and there with no consideration of his feelings or those of the couple's family and friends in an utterly tasteless manner that brought disgrace on them as individuals and residents of the town they claim to represent.

I am further informed that on his first day back at work after burying his wife, two of these alleged select people again called upon him to suggest he immediately resign – not because of any implied wrong-doing or malfeasance, but because they didn't like him, wanted to hire someone else and firing him would be an inconvenience to the board.

I am not a resident of that town. In an odd way, I wish I were, so I could start a petition to recall the arrogant elected officials who behaved in such an insensitive, insulting, and crude manner. No one deserves such treatment - no one.
