Thank you Steve's

To The Editor:

Liz Blaquiere and her crew of volunteers from both The Progress Center and the community would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Steve from Steve’s General Store in Oxford.

Steve prepared and donated lasagna for the main course at one of the recent Community Dinners held at the First Universalist Church in Norway. His act of generosity is greatly appreciated by this dedicated group of volunteers who prepare and serve as many as 130 meals twice monthly.

The Community Dinners, a project of The Progress Center, has been serving meals to the greater Oxford Hill community on the first and third Thursdays of every month for over two years.

With the renovation process underway at its 35 Cottage Street location, The Progress Center will be moving the Community Kitchen meals to its location upon completion of the new commercial kitchen.

When completed, the Community Kitchen, a fully USDA licensed facility, will be available for multiple use. Not only will The Progress Center use the kitchen for the Community Dinners, it will also be a teaching facility for its clients, available to farmers and others in the area who will be able use the kitchen to preserve their harvests, and to individuals wishing to expand a kitchen-based hobby into a business.

If you have any questions about Community Dinners, The Progress Center or the Community Kitchen please call Priscilla Burnette at 743-8049 ext. 266.
