Father Lebel cleared of all charges

To the Editor:

In December 2007, quite a large article appeared on the front page of the Advertiser-Democrat that Father Maurice Lebel, formerly of St. Catherine’s Church in Norway, was alleged to have been involved in an incident involving sexual abuse of a minor. I had written a letter to the editor at that time asking if it would make front page news when he was cleared of all charges against him. In as much as I am sure it won’t, I would like everyone to know that the allegation was unproven and all restrictions against him have been lifted, as we who knew him had no doubt they would be.
