Are Booster teams for the kids or the parents?

To the Editor:

I know that my kid is not the best basketball player on our team, but he’s not the worst either. His teammates and him play their hearts out every week and do their best. I want him to win every that he can and be as good as the next kid.

There is a team on the fifth and sixth grade boys' boosters that is composed of mostly travel team players, but not all. The town has two teams and didn’t split the travel team up at all from what our coach has said. Apparently the parents didn’t want to split them up, weather to make sure that win the championships or to just be convenient for them. I’m not saying that they should have taking them from their school teams but they should have at least split them up evenly between the two teams to give all the teams a fair chance to win. There was a game today that they won and the score was 60 to 14. Our boys played them a while ago and the score was about 22 to 44, or something close to that.

I just feel that someone needs to hear about this so that it doesn’t happen again in the future. It is unfair to all the kids involved, not just mine. My son doesn’t need to win every game or even any; I just want it to be somewhat fair for all involved, parents included.

I just don’t know how else to put it, I’m just extremely frustrated with the way this was setup. I applaud the man who puts this all together because quite simply I don’t believe no one else would enjoy the job more than him. If it were up to me the kids that are on the travel team should sit out the playoffs all together.
