Welfare largesse

To the Editor:

Maine is near the top of the list in welfare largesse. By that I mean people on welfare in Maine get more benefits than most other states. And Maine is also classified as one of the poorest.

Our Governor is trying to correct the spending spree the Democrats have been on for the last 35 years...They (the Democrats) have put us in the position we are in now.

Everyone needs to bite the bullet and take cuts that will help balance the budget. This out-of-control spending is screeching to a halt and guess who is doing all the screeching? Democrats!

Because that is where they get their votes. Democrats give to those that vote them in. And they are Unions, Liberals, people on welfare and those that espouse the you owe me mentality.

Whenever a Democrat can’t get his way, he spouts off about the elderly will suffer...the children will suffer! I for one am sick of their pathetic outcries.

If Governor LePage fails to rein in this out-of-control budget, Maine will be broke...then what? How is the government going to pay for all these programs, pay wages, pay for anything?

The Democrats seem to think money grows on trees or they want to take all your hard earned dollars and give it to someone that doesn’t work.

It’s my view that people that work vote Republican and those on welfare vote Democrat.

The Democrats' latest mantra is take from the rich and give to the poor. That’s communism.
