Regency of Maine overcharging on lot rents
To the Editor:
To Regency Corporation, 40 N. 4th St., Carbondale, CO 81623
Let it be known that I/we as low or fixed income tenants believe our landlord, Regency of Maine, Inc., is over charging for lot rents in our present low-income economy.
Regency’s lot rents are way out of line to all of the area’s local trailer parks. Instead of wanting to charge more for lot rent, Regency should be making reductions in lot rent and dropping pet fees. (What are pet fees, anyway?)
Regency should be making an attempt to improve relationships with tenants who pay their bills so, Regency, you can continue to pay your bills.
Until the low-income economy gets better and warrants a higher lot rent, let your already high lot rent stand at this time.
At least, Regency, you should realize senior citizens in this trailer park are having really hard times.
So trust me that this is not the time for anyone to vote yourself or him or herself an increase or a raise like Congress seems to do each year.
Between the U.S. Government who works for us and our State Government and local and town officials who work for us and their continued increases in asking for more money from us the people, I can see why you, Regency, want to jump onto the money bandwagon. Don’t you all see you’re sucking us all dry! America is going to go down for the count.
Now all I’m asking is for someone to start thinking about what they are doing to the people on low and fixed incomes. So Regency of Maine, Inc., how about the buck stops here and show some compassion until someone who cares comes along and saves America. Could that someone start with you? Note: There was no cost of living increase for Social Security this year. Yet Regency of Maine, Inc. wants more money, the town wants more money, the state wants more money and the government too. So how many pieces can come from a low or fixed income before someone can’t afford to live?
Nothing left from a low or fixed income equals nonexistence. Nothing to eat equals death by raised bills and taxation. You may think it’s waa, waa, waa, only you would be wrong it’s real and it’s happening in your country.
Nobody seems to see or realize until it’s too late. The straw that broke the camel’s back is coming to a town just like yours.
If someone soon doesn’t start doing something to halt the violation of stealing poor folk’s money, we are all going to end up in the poor house. Can I come live with you, Mister Regency of Maine, Inc., are you the poor house? Or maybe I could go live in the town office poor house or the state poor house or how about the White (poor) House? Who should be blamed for me being poor — me or you! It’s not for me as long as I have had money, I’ve always paid my bills.
Only the money tree is not what it used to be and it’s about time to realize you “can” get blood from a stone, because that’s what comes next when I have to give blood to give you your $45 more dollars.
So what do you say, Regency Corp.?
This letter will serve as your 30-day notice that effective January 1, your rent increase to $345 is very hard to pay at this present time.
Thank you for your concern.
This is a follow-up to the anonymous Letter to the Editor or another front page story on December 16, about Oxford Pines Trailer park lot rent increase.
Call it an unwanted Christmas present from Regency Corporate Inc. or call it the Grinch that stole Christmas fogged or oil from the low-income residents of Oxford Pines Trailer Park.
