Arts festival starts today
NORWAY — An impressive lineup of artists representing every genre of fine arts and artisan crafts imaginable is slated to exhibit at the Sidewalk Art Show of the 44th Annual Norway Arts Festival on Saturday, July 9, when a full day of live performances will also take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The whole festival kicks off July 7 with a special evening performance celebrating the life of renowned mime and teacher Tony Montanaro and a high energy street dance is planned for July 8.
In addition to fine art paintings festival-goers will find photography, three-dimensional work in metal, stone, glass and wood, as well as hand printing, lithography, jewelry, fiber arts and much more. The artists hail from all over Maine as well as parts of New England.
Artists will be vying for cash prizes and purchase awards in the juried portion of the show. Some of the artists representing painting and two-dimensional include Duncan Slade, Nancy Engdahl, Cynthia Burmeister, Barbara Traficonte, Marvin Jacobs, Ron Hamilton, Liz Evans, Ellen O'Neill, Irina Kahn, Francoise Lagoutte-Fetchko, Ruth Carlson-Friberg, Frost Farm Gallery, Rose Wood, the Commons Art Collective, Pam Morra, Diana Hertz and many more.
Representing fiber art will be Brenda Sauro, Debra LaGree, Kim Hamlin, Natalie Reed, Grace McKivergan, Kathy Angel Lee and others.
Photographers include Daryl-Ann Leonard, Steve Traficonte, The Oxford Hills Camera Club, Johanna Haskell, Roger L. Stevens, Jr., Robin Lee Priest, Paul Boucher, Michael Dyer, Ellen Rawding, Bilodeau Photography, Linda L. Panzera Photography and more.
Jewelry exhibitors include Mary Nyman, Carabassett Valley Jewelry, Stonewood Jewelry, HR Best Design, Paula Farrell, Jewelry Therapy, Ebb and Flow Creations and others.
In three-dimensional Sculpture and pottery are Michael Sauro with MerMan Metal, Cabin Pottery, Julie Daye with hand-woven pine needle baskets, the woodwork of Nancy Swinton's WoodWe?, Glass Art by Ken Jorgensen, the fine wood work of Rob Bergman and Bill Koch and much, much more.
