Newspapers are sold every Thursday morning in the most popular stores across the Oxford Hills area. Our papers sell for 50 cents. You also can subscribe by mail. The paper will be delivered to your mailbox by the US Post Office, whether you live in Maine or in Oregon or California. Q. How do you contact us? A. Reach us by phone, by calling 1-207-743-7011. What if the post office delivers my paper later than I feel they should? A. We work closely with the US Post Office and follow their instructions to the letter. If the paper does not arrive on time we will review your subscription with postal officials and in some instances they will put a tracer on it to see where it is going astray. We find delivery is slower in certain parts of the country. But the post office promises to work with us when there are problems. Q. Do you charge for wedding or engagement announcments? Do you charge for obituaries? A. No, there is no fee to run such important news. Unlike other papers, we believe we should run this information without charge. Just mail or e-mail the information to us. We prefer pictures to be sent by mail because the picture quality is better if we scan it ourselves to our press specfications. Q. How do I submit a letter to the editor? A. Send your letter to; Editor, Advertiser Democrat, PO Box 269, Norway, Maine 04268. Or e-mail it to newsteam@advertiserdemocrat. While we would like to run all letters that come in, we reserve the right to edit your letter or not run it at all if we feel it is in bad taste, libelous, or unacceptable for any other reason. Letters longer than 700 words may be heavily edited or ignored. Q. Can I purchase a picture that runs in the Advertiser-Democrat? A. If the picture was taken by a member of our our staff we will produce a copy of the picture for a reasonable fee. Even though the pictures in the paper appear in B&W most are shot in color and as such most reprints are in color. Please give us the page number and a description of the picture that you want. Q. Do you run a calender of events each week? A. We have a truly comprehensive community calender, and it runs both in the paper and on-line. You can list your event without charge by sending us a letter or e-mail. The deadline is on Monday of the week you want it to appear in the paper. Be sure to include your phone number in case we have questions. Q. What about classified advertising? A. We still charge just $3 for a classified ad and that includes an on-line listing. We feel classifieds are important to large numbers of people. Q. Can I pay for my mail subscription, my display ad or classified ad on line? A. Yes, we have a secure on-line payment system using several popular credit cards. We are instantly notified when you us our on-line credit card system. It is the quiskest, easiest way to do business with us. |
