Norway woman faces burglary, theft, drug charges again
NORWAY — A Norway woman was arrested and charged on May 25 for burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, violation of bail conditions and for possession of Methadone and Vicodin.
Tina Marie Landers, 28, of 73 Beal Street and boyfriend John Andrew Siciliani, 26, were arrested and charged in early March for burglary, theft and stealing painkillers and other items after breaking into seven different vehicles throughout Norway and a home on Nevers Ave.
Items stolen, which included $200 worth of CDs, a pocket watch, a tool kit and a snowboard and other items amounted to $1,000, said Norway Police Officer Jeffrey Campbell, who made the March arrest.
On May 25, Landers was charged with stealing a CPAP machine from her landlord's vehicle where she is living, said Norway Police Chief Robert Federico. The landlord suspected it was an upstairs tenant who stole the CPAP, which is worth between $1,000 and $2,000, he said.
A CPAP is a machine that aids people – with sleep apnea – to breathe and stay asleep.
"The officer [Norway Officer Robert Federico, Jr.] went over there, and had tried several times to make contact with her," said Chief Federico. "She is already awaiting trial on multiple charges of theft and burglary. He knew she had bail conditions, so she was subject to search and [a drug test] at anytime."
Chief Federico said that the officer made contact with Landers on May 25. "He told her he was going to search the residence for drugs or alcohol, and asked if she knew anything about the CPAP machine," said Federico.
"She said she didn't know what it was. During the search, Landers continually went in and out of the bathroom and other areas."
The CPAP machine was discovered in the bathroom in a black cloth case, as were some illegal drugs in the bathroom closet under a large pile of clothes, said Federico. "She said she didn't know anything about the machine, or the drugs, or how they got into her apartment," he said.
According to Federico, the landlord has confirmed that the CPAP machine belongs to him.
Landers was released from Oxford County Jail on May 28 without bail conditions.
